After I got back home to Green Bay, WI after graduation in 1963 and recovered from the last long 9 hour car trip that we had done so often and unpacked I really did not know what I was going to do. Is there life after New Ulm?? Yep.
I enrolled the next month in Green Bay Badger Business College and got my associates degree in medical administration. Of course my first job was not in that field at all but at City Hall in the Park and Recreation Department as a secretary. After I married and had my kids, I was a stay-at-home mom until 1978 and then when my "baby" went to kindergarten I thought I would be bored and went out job hunting and started working at St. Mary's Hospital as a medical transcriptionist and have been there ever since. It will be 30 years this October. We are all home based now so that is great to work in our "jammies and slippers." I have been working at home for 10 years thanks to computers...
When I was age 40, I found out I was pregnant so guess I missed the midlife crisis, I was too busy. As it turned out that would be a true blessing to us. Unfortunately, the most devastating part of my life was my husband died from cancer 10 years ago and I lost truly my best friend forever.
I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. I look forward to seeing all of you. It should be such a grand reunion...My brother Jim will be coming with me as he lives in California now and will be home at that time visiting. He was a year younger than me at New Ulm so probably knows many of you also.
