Comments:
1963 was a good year—having graduated from the High School Department at Martin Luther College. I went home for the summer and worked in a peach canning factory and painted the wood frame church with 65 foot steeple which I attended.
1964-1968: 4 more years on the New Ulm Campus, [with a year off for good behavior as an emergency 5-6 teacher with 36 students in Wonewoc, Wisconsin].
1968-1969: Engaged to Dene Werner. “Music” tutor at Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge SD. Not one of my most successful years with music skills not matched to position, fiancée 800 miles to the east, three trips into the ditch, and one slightly dead 1200-lb steer, and pneumonia.
1969-present: 39 years of wedlock to Dene nee: Werner. Dene has been a very hard-working, faithful wife who has loved my warts and cared for my bruises. Dene has worked for 22 years in the field of developmental disabilities—currently working for LSS of MN. Dene gave us five children: Elizabeth 38 with adopted 5-year old daughter--Natalia, John 36 and Kelly nee Head with a December pumpkin--??, Zachary 33 and Rhonda nee Williams with 18-year-old Danica—Tomah HS homecoming queen and 14-year-old Joslyn, Rachel 31 and Tony Glocke with 2 year-old Michael and newborn Olivia Marie, Deborah 28 and Hans Scharrer with 2 year-old Chloe and 6-month old Ellise: all sinners, trusting in their Savior, redeemed by him.
Our life’s journey has taken us on 8 employment stops and 12 homes (~)!
1969-1977: 6-7 grades & athletic director for Trinity in Caledonia, WI, Stewardship.
1977-1980: 7-8 grade teacher and principal for St. Paul in Columbus OH, Board of Ed.
April 15, 1980: Mid-life crisis takes turn for the better
1980-1984: Audiovisual aids NPH, Trustee, and Stewardship—Christ Lutheran in MKE.
1984-1986: Association Coordinator for MVL in New Ulm, Trinity, Nicollet.
1986-1993: Development Director, Assistant Administrator, Campus Administrator for Lutheran Home Association, Belle Plaine, Western WI, Mankato, Caledonia MN, Trinity, Belle Plaine & St. Paul’s Caledonia, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce.
1993-1997: Nursing Home Administrator for First Christian Residence, Mpls, MN. Faith Lutheran, Excelsior. Youth Group.
1997-2006: Adm., & Senior Manager, Presbyterian Homes & Services, Roseville, MN, St. John, MPLS—Council.
2006-Present: Business Development Officer, Lutheran Social Service MN, St. Paul MN, Pilgrim, MPLS—Outreach.
Retirement: 2-8 years [God-willing] House built by family and friends over last 8 years in Flippin [no this is not a swear word] Arkansas.
Physical scorecard: currently on 6 prescriptions, but feel better than in past years
